National Cowgirl Museum (US)

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is a museum and association which honors women of the American West who have displayed courage or spirit and who have distinguished themselves while exemplifying the pioneer spirit. The facility is located in the Cultural District of Fort Worth, Texas.

Se trata de un museo que honora a las mujeres del Oeste americano que han dado muestras de gran coraje y que se han distinguido como ejemplo por su espíritu pionero. La instalación está ubicada en el distrito cultural de Fort Worth, Texas.

Kyz Kuumai (KG)

Se trata de un típico juego del Kirguistán, en el que un hombre a caballo persigue a una mujer al galope. Si el hombre la atrapa recibe como recompensa un beso.

This is a typical game of Kyrgyzstan, in which a man pursues a woman horse galloping. If man catches the woman he is rewarded a kiss.

Carreras a la chilena (CL)

Se trata de competiciones de velocidad entre dos caballos en un terreno natural, con la especialidad de que los jinetes montan sin montura.

These are speed competitions between two horses in a natural terrain, with the specialty of the riders ride bareback.

El Cuasimodo (CL)

La fiesta religiosa del Cuasimodo es propia de la región central de Chile. Se trata de una procesión a caballo que se celebra el primer domingo después de la Pascua. Su propósito es llevar la comunión a los enfermos y ancianos.

The religious festival of Quasimodo is typical of central Chile. This is a horseback procession held on the first Sunday after Easter. Its purpose is to take communion to the sick and elderly.

El caballo en movimiento

El fotógrafo Eadweard Muybridge fue el primero en conseguir captar el movimiento de un caballo al galope con una cámara fotográfica. A través de una serie de 12 fotografías (1873) consiguió demostrar que durante el galope el caballo no apoya ningún casco en el suelo.

Photographer Eadweard Muybridge was the first to get capture the movement of a galloping horse with a camera. Through a series of 12 photographs (1873), he was able to show that  horse doesn’t support any helmet on the ground during the gallop .
